HTMG 3311 - Understanding Food Through Movies

This course examines the relationship between food imagery and various cultural constructs, including politics, family, identity, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, and religion. Students will explore foodways - the intersection of historical, social, and cultural food contexts via their representation in film. Students will analyze the ideological dimensions of food imagery and food behavior in films as well as prepare and sample the various products portrayed in the films reviewed.
