SYST 4497 - System Engineering Design I


Prerequisites: SYST 3389 , consent of the coordinator. A first course in a two-course, year-long design project. With a faculty advisor, the student works in a team of two or more members on an industry-sponsored project. Includes project scoping and definition, needs assessment and analysis, risks, standards and human factors evaluation, conceptual design, developing requirements, functional specification, and simulation of the conceptual design, testing, and validation. Work is presented through both a formal report and at a department seminar. Work will be continued to the second course, SYST 4498 .  3 credits.
