EASC 1102 - Technical Writing in Computing


Eligible for placement in ENGL 1112  or ENGL 1113 . Prerequisite or co-requisite: CSCI 1109 . An introductory course in the Project to Integrate Technical Communication Habits (PITCH), with a focus on the development of short reports to convey information related to computing, including cybersecurity and networks. Topics include audience awareness, technical communication style, forms of communication in computing, report organization, and writing effective abstracts and conclusions. Principles of Clarity, Organization, Precision, and Economy (COPE) are emphasized. Student work is reviewed by both peers and the instructor. Students use feedback to revise and resubmit work. To provide context for writing assignments, this course is closely aligned with its co-requisite, CSCI 1109 .   1 credits.
