CSCI 4481 - Cloud Computing

Prerequisite: CSCI 3347. In this course the architecture of cloud will be discussed, including data centers, virtualization, clustering, and further discussion on two cloud environments: Microsoft System Center and Ubuntu OpenStack setup and configuration including SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS. In the second section, architecture of data centers will be discussed in detail, with different types of electrical and optical structures. Additional content includes the investigation of security threats in cloud computing and data centers such as unauthorized access or denial of service (DOS) and their solutions, investigating cyber operations including potential target and extensive resources to solve potential security problems, and benefits of the cloud in such operations. 3 credits.
