NUTR 6642 - Nutrition Care Process and Physical Assessment


Prerequisite: NUTR 6610 . Prerequisite or co-requisite: NUTR 6643 . This course teaches students to perform the practical application of dietetics practice in the clinical or community setting utilizing the nutrition care process. How to write nutrition diagnosis using problem, etiology, signs and symptoms (PES) format as well as interventions, monitoring, and evaluation using the nutrition care process standardized language and terminology for various disease states including cancer, cardiac disease, renal, and trauma. It also covers the understanding of the research methods specific to nutrition functional assessment and physical examination. Training on the Nutrition Focused Physical Examination (NFPE) will include specialized equipment, skills, and techniques. Laboratory fee. 4 credits.
