CM 431 - Process Dynamics & Control w/Lab Prerequisites: CM 310 or CM 315 or ME 321 ; EAS 230 , M 204 . Corequisite: CM 431L Fundamental principles of chemical process dynamics used in the measurement and control of process variables such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate. Development of linear and nonlinear dynamic process models, stability analysis, and control system design using analytical and computer methods. Laboratory assignments stress the analysis, design, and tuning of process loops using computer simulations and industrial control equipment on pilot-scale process equipment. Students gain experience using industrial control hardware such as programmable logic controllers and distributed control systems. 4 credits
