CE 205 - Statics and Strength of Materials Prerequisite: PH 150 Effects and distribution of forces on rigid bodies at rest. Various types of forces systems, friction, center of gravity, centroids, and moments of inertia. Relation between externally applied loads and their internal effects on nonrigid, deformable bodies. Stress, strain, Hooke's law, Poisson's ratio, bending and torsion, shear and moment diagrams, deflection, combined stress, and Mohr's circle. 4 credits
