Students earning a bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene must complete a minimum of 127 credits. Courses must include the University Core Curriculum for bachelor's degree students and the required courses listed below. Once students are enrolled in the dental hygiene clinical course sequence (DHYG 2220 , DHYG 2240 , DHYG 3330 , DHYG 3350 , DHYG 4460 ), they must be enrolled in a full-time course of study. Students must achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.70 or above at the University of New Haven preceding entry into the fall semester sophomore-level dental hygiene clinical course sequence. Students must enroll in the dental hygiene courses DHYG 3330 and DHYG 3342 during the designated summer session, scheduled after completion of the sophomore clinical course sequence.

Dental Hygiene Major Required Courses
BS in Dental Hygiene and Master of Public Health
The BS in Dental Hygiene and Master of Public Health accelerated program is a five-year, 157 credit degree program designed for students interested in advancing their career and earning potential and who aspire to work in public or governmental health organizations, community health centers and more. This degree program combines CODA accredited dental hygiene major with advanced knowledge of the field of public health with electives focusing on global health, health education and promotion, and program evaluation. This degree combination includes graduate coursework in the senior year as well as coursework during the summer after the senior year in order to complete the program in five years.
Students applying for Fall 2020 may apply directly to this dual degree program. Students who meet the admission criteria for this program will also be conditionally accepted into the MHA program. This conditional acceptance remains effective for students who maintain a cumulative 3.2 undergraduate GPA.

BS in Dental Hygiene and Master of Healthcare Administration
The B.S. in Dental Hygiene and Master of Healthcare Administration accelerated program is a five-year, 154-credit degree program designed to unite your background in dental hygiene with an understanding of business administration to prepare for a leadership role in the dental field. You will be equipped to oversee the strategic direction of a dental clinic or related practice and to advocate for the importance of dental care in an overall treatment plan. You can also pursue opportunities in teaching and education. This degree combination includes graduate coursework in the senior year as well as coursework during the summer after the senior year in order to complete the program in five years.
Students applying for fall 2020 may apply directly to this dual degree program. Students who meet the admission criteria for this program will also be conditionally accepted into the M.H.A. program. This conditional acceptance remains effective for students who maintain a cumulative 3.2 undergraduate GPA.
