National Security, M.S., Information Protection and Security Concentration

Candidates are required to complete a minimum of 36 credits of graduate work, which may include an internship in national security. Transfer credit from other institutions may be permitted subject to the Graduate School policy on transfer credit detailed elsewhere in this catalog.
Students in the program are required to complete 18 credits of core courses and 18 credits of general electives. Students must complete a capstone requirement of either NSPS 6693 - National Security Internship I or NSPS 6697 Thesis I and NSPS 6698 Thesis II. If the six credit thesis option is selected, NSPS 6698 Thesis II will count toward electives.

Required Courses (18 credits)
Concentration in Information Protection and Security (18 credits)
This concentration provides a unique approach to the issue of cyberterrorism and the protection of information management systems within our national security agencies. Students will be prepared for the responsibilities of protecting agency or corporate information systems. The basics of information systems security as well as the legal issues and cyber-response strategies are evaluated. Students learn through hands-on experience using industry software and practices.

Plus six credits of elective from any graduate, 6000-level NSPS, CJST, INVS, EMGT, or CSCI course.
