M.A. Clinical Mental Health Counseling


Program Outcomes

  1. Students will demonstrate competence in all 8 core domains of counseling, as well as the concentration of clinical mental health counseling.
  2. Students successfully synthesize major theoretical concepts in the core counseling curriculum and their concentration area with their practicum experience.
  3. Students demonstrate, at a professional level, applied intervention skills in the internship.

The program consists of 60 credits, 48 of which compose the core curriculum completed by all students, and 12 of which constitute one of three concentration areas: general, forensic mental health, or community development.

Concentration in Community Development


The 12-credit community development concentration provides students with additional skills focused on the administration of both traditional and non-traditional programs and services. The concentration addresses planning, development, and evaluation of innovative approaches to treatment and prevention in the public and private human service sectors as well as in business and industry.
