Message from the President

Headshot of President Jens FrederiksenDear Student,

I am pleased to welcome you to the 2025-26 academic year. Whether you are joining us as a first-year student or you are a returning student poised to realize your goals, I trust you are ready to take advantage of all the opportunities and the support available to you.

Your time as a Charger is designed to serve as a springboard that will launch you to new heights. We are here to power your passions and the dreams you didn't even know you had.

Aim for a strong start to the new academic year. Set a high standard and keep raising the bar. Maximize the investment you are making. Challenge yourself, get comfortable being uncomfortable, and always put your best foot forward. Ultimately, higher education is about transforming lives, and preparing for an exciting future.

You have a responsibility to yourself and your future to find something that excites you. Work hard in and out of the classroom. Pursue internships, research, and experiential learning opportunities. Participate in our holistic educational experience, build relationships with your classmates and professors, and immerse yourself in student life.

Feel free to reach out to me at OfficeOfThePresident@newhaven.edu with questions, concerns,or ideas you may have. Your success is personal to us, and we are here to help you every step of the way.

Never lose sight of your goals. There is an exciting world full of challenges, and you are positioned to make an impact. This is your time. Who's fired up to get started?! Power On!

All my best,

Jens Frederiksen, Ph.D.

Message from the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students

headshot of Dean of StudentsDear Charger,

To our new students, welcome to the Charger family. To our returning undergraduates and graduate students, welcome back. At the University of New Haven, you are our highest priority. We are committed to nurturing your complete development, because cultivating the whole person lays the foundation for lasting success.

One key resource waiting for you is the Student Handbook, which is your guide to campus life. The policies, services, and opportunities will help you navigate classes, campus resources, and everyday decisions.

Membership in the Charger community carries both rights and responsibilities. Every policy in this handbook is grounded in the Charger Compact. The values and expectations we all share provide the framework for how we interact as individual members of the community and speak to who we are and what we stand for as a community.

Please review them early so you know what to expect inside and outside the classroom.

College is a journey, not a destination, and we are excited to see where yours leads. Wishing you an inspiring and successful year ahead.

Power On!
