You did your part for our country, now the University of New Haven wants to do its part for you. With the Office of Military & Veteran Affairs (OMVA) at UNewHaven, you'll have all the support you need to achieve your goals for the next phase of your life. The OMVA consists of full-time staff & part time student employees whose aim is to assist and support the student veteran population both on and off campus. Our dedicated team of VA Work Study students serve as liaisons, peer mentors, and advocates of the military affiliated population. Our programs will help you excel in the classroom, connect with other military affiliated students, and give you clear access to all the services and resources to which you are entitled. Ranging from one-on-one advising to career development specific to student veterans, the OMVA team is ready to assist and support you on a variety of topics and issues.
The Military & Veteran Center, otherwise known as "the Vet Lounge", offers a place for military affiliated students to gather between classes, use a computer and free printer, and learn about the plentiful resources available to veterans on campus and within the community. The Connecticut Department of Labor, Veteran Readiness & Employment program, and the New Haven Vet Center are available to meet students on campus to discuss these benefits and services.
The University is approved by the State Board of Higher Education for the education of veterans, and those receiving VA educational benefits, under the provisions of United States Code 89358. University of New Haven students who are veterans, or are receiving VA educational benefits, should contact the VA Certifying Official (SCO) prior to enrolling and before the beginning of each semester to confirm enrollment information. It is important that the SCO has the VA required documentation to facilitate enrollment certification. This process will expedite processing under the educational program. Please email veteranservices@newhaven.edu with if you have any questions.
