BIOL 4506 - Molecular Genetics/Genomics


Prerequisite: BIOL 3311 . This course will examine how biological information is organized and encoded in the genome. We will explore how different genomic approaches and techniques are applied toward understanding biological systems. Topics include genome structure and organization, gene regulation, genetic variation, and genome evolution. This course will also serve as an introduction to genomic databases and their application in biological research. Finally, we will discuss ethical questions around the privacy and use of personal genetic information. 3 credits.
