NSPS 6633 - World of Spies and Espionage


Using autobiographies, biographies, novels and films about spies and espionage, this course will provide students an opportunity to learn how to analyze narrative and derive meaning in order to make "intelligence claims." Specifically they will assess how the motivations, character traits and goals of spies are portrayed in novels, autobiographies and films. In addition students will analyze the ways in which the "worlds" of espionage are represented in films and in books. Students will evaluate how representations of espionage have change over time as well as the reasons for these changes. 3 credits.
