ITAL 4411 - Crime and Punishment in Italian Literature


Prerequisite: ITAL 3301  or placement test or consent of the instructor. The course is a survey of Italian literary production from the Middle Ages to contemporary society.  By considering texts representative of different literary movements, students will explore how different authors approached the topics of crime, guilt, and punishments in each time period.  The course is based on lectures, assignments, reading, research, and movie screenings, the combination of which will enable students to gain an overview of the history of Italian literature.  The course is taught in Italian.  3 credits.
