HIST 3440 - Money, Politics, & Belonging: Sport in Latin America


Sport offers a crucial lens into relationships among the state, citizens, and corporations or other private entities throughout modern Latin American history. During this course, students will examine concepts such as nationalism and identity, imperialism, gender, revolution, international relations, violence, and reform using sports as a lens. Students will engage these themes through a variety of historical methods, sources, and data, to not only gain a deeper appreciation for the significance of sport in society but also develop analytical and communication skills to prepare them for success in any future field.  3 credits.
