ECON 1200 - Strife, Protest, and Progress: Current Events Around the World This course provides the student with the tools needed to use an economic lens to evaluate the various topics at the center of modern society, such as social unrest and civil protest. In an environment where there is an unprecedented quantity of ever-growing and often conflicting information available, it is possible to "lose the signal for the noise." This course is designed to enable students to develop a broader viewpoint and participate in social discourse using an economic framework. Students will study a wide range of current social topics and evaluate both the causes for them and discuss alternative solutions for them. 3 credits.
