MGMT 6647 - Network Security and Operations


This course provides a comprehensive introduction to network protocols, technologies and operations, and security. The core concepts of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, and an introduction to communication protocols at the application, and transport layers, Domain Name System, Network segmentation, Wireless and Cellular Networks, Content Distribution Networks are reviewed. Components of secure network architecture and operations, including managing identity and authentication, controlling and monitoring access are covered. Integrated Network Operation Center/Security Operation Center (NOC/SOC) best practices are studied. Network vulnerabilities, security policy and risk management are discussed. 3 credits.
