SLPA 6622 - Neurogenic Language Disorders The purpose of this course is to prepare future clinicians to assess, diagnose, and treat aphasia and other neurogenic communication disorders in adults, including right hemisphere disorder (RHD). Students will review and understand the historical and theoretical bases of aphasia and identify best practices for assessment and intervention. Topics will include assessment and diagnostic procedures, intervention and management of aphasia syndromes. Students will access and discuss evidence-based practices and engage in clinical decision-making through clinical simulations and case studies. After completing this course, students will understand how to assess language disorders, and how to develop goals and plans for intervention based on individual assessment for aphasia and RHD. 3 credits.
