CIVL 6604 - Aqueous Chemistry This course provides an overview of the aqueous-phase equilibria impacting the water quality in natural waters and treatment facilities. It includes a review of chemical thermodynamics that is followed by discussion of chemical kinetics, acid-base equilibria, precipitation-dissolution, complexation, and oxidation-reduction reactions. Emphasis is on equilibrium calculations as a tool for understanding the variables that govern the chemical composition of aquatic systems and the fate of pollutants. 3 credits.
