EASC 1112 - Methods of Engineering Analysis

Prerequisites: EASC 1107, ENGL 1112 or ENGL 1113 (may be taken concurrently), MATH 1117 or higher (may be taken concurrently). Students will be introduced to typical problems encountered in various branches of engineering using a case-study approach. They will gain experience using computer tools to solve these problems numerically. Skill will be developed in a spreadsheet environment, and the fundamentals of programming will be presented. Applications involve the use of descriptive statistics, regression, interpolation, logical and numerical functions, sets of algebraic equations. Students are introduced to data types, assignment and conditional statements, program flow control, passing parameters, returning values with functions, arrays. 3 credits.
