MLSC 3360 - Hematology with Laboratory Prerequisites: BIOL 2260 , MLSC 3300 . Co-requisite: MLSC 3361 . This course will cover fundamental concepts in human hematology, including study of the production, function, and physiology of red and white blood cells, platelets, and bone marrow. Disorders of red blood cells and white blood cells will be discussed. An overview of manual and automated hematological test methods used in the diagnosis of blood cells disorders will be included. Emphasis is placed on correlating laboratory results with clinical conditions, applying quality assurance practices, and understanding the role of hematology testing in patient care and disease management. Laboratory fee; 4 credits.
