PHYS 1120 - Introductory Astronomy

Prerequisite: MATH 1107 or higher. Co-requisite: PHYS 1121. This introductory course in astronomy covers observational astronomy, celestial sphere, Newtonian mechanics, the gravitational field, the solar system, stars and stellar evolution, galaxies, and cosmology. The course emphasizes the physical processes at work in the universe and the methods we use to learn about the universe. 3 credits.
