EDGM 2200 - Global Esport and Digital Gaming Landscape


This course explores the diverse and rapidly evolving world of global esports, examining the cultural, social, and economic impacts of esports across various regions. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how esports cultures differ globally, analyzing the unique characteristics and growth trends in each region. The course will cover key regions such as the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America, and South America, providing students with a comparative perspective on the global esports landscape. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the regional influences, market dynamics, and cultural significance of esports within these areas. The course will also examine the commercial development and success of the globalized esports industry, including mega esports events. Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and projects, students will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate and contribute to the global esports industry. 3 credits.
