M 117 - Calculus I Prerequisite: a grade of C (not C-) or higher in M 115 , or placement by the department. The first year college course for majors in mathematics, science and engineering; and the basic prerequisite for all advanced mathematics. Introduces differential and integral calculus for functions of one variable, including algebraic and transcendental functions and culminates in the fundamental theorem of calculus. Includes basic rules and properties of limits and derivatives and applications of derivatives. Studies the plane analytic geometry needed for calculus. 4 credits
