HIST 1120 - History of African Americans This course provides an overview of the contributions and experiences of people of African descent and the many historical changes that have both shaped and been influenced by African Americans. This course will focus on the significance of race and ethnicity in American politics, economic and social development. Topics will include the development of slavery, slave cultures and resistance, Reconstruction and the meaning of freedom, the Great Migration, and the Civil Rights movement.
