The M.S. in Information Science program integrates a set of technical tools, user-centered design, information leadership, critical thinking, and analytics skills that will empower students to both evaluate and make decisions from information.  These competencies provide students with the skills needed to become employed in a wide range of careers that span from information science, UX design, and business analyst.
 

The broad and intensive core curriculum spans disciplines from three colleges and stresses three fundamental areas:  

  1. Apply the UX design and development process as a means to manage the development of an idea from concept to production.  

  1. Understand how to use data to address challenges and opportunities in the field of business analytics.  

  1. Design, manage, and deploy networked systems, emphasizing cloud computing, big data collection, and information security.
     

The program also allows students to discover and focus their electives content into one of three focus areas: 

  1. The process and design issues associated with information science.  

  1. The tools needs to thoughtfully collect, analyze, and interpret data. 

  1. The skills needed to design, implement, and evaluate user-centered technical systems and applications to meet users' information needs and behaviors.
