Information Technology Minor

Please refer to important information on minor requirements on this page. Students may minor in information technology by completing 18 credits of computer science courses. Those considering a minor in information technology should seek guidance from the cybersecurity and networks undergraduate coordinator as early as possible. Students must complete the following courses:

Required Courses

CSCI 1109 - Introduction to Computing
CSCI 1110 - Introduction to C Programming
CSCI 2210 - Java Programming
or
CSCI 2212 - Intermediate Programming, C and C++
CSCI 2246 - Introduction to Computer Security
• Plus two Computer Science electives (six credits total) from the following:
CSCI 1166 - Discrete Mathematics for Computing
CSCI 2215 - Databases and SQL
CSCI 3316 - Professional Issues in Computing Technology
CSCI 3338 - Introduction to Cyber Forensic Science
CSCI 3351 - Script Programming/Python
ELEC 1155 - Digital Systems I
Any Computer Science elective approved by advisor.

Note(s):

Students majoring in computer science, computer engineering, or cybersecurity & networks are ineligible to earn a minor in information technology.
