Marine Biology Minor

Please refer to important information on minor requirements on this page. The minor in marine biology offers students across the university the opportunity to enhance their degree program while gaining a deeper understanding of the ocean and the organisms that live there. The minor consists of a minimum of 19 credits. All students must complete MARN 2200 Oceanography and MARA 2223 /MARA 2225 Marine Biology with Laboratory and will select one organismal course and one marine biology restricted elective in consultation with an advisor from the program. This minor is open to students in the BA Marine Affairs program with the following restriction: students who minor in Marine Biology may not use MARN 3331 , MARN 4440 , or MARN 4444 as restricted electives in the Marine Affairs program.

Required Courses (12 credits)
Plus one of the following organismal courses (4 credits)
Plus one Marine Biology restricted elective (min 3 credits)
Please consult with an advisor in the Marine Biology program for assistance with the selection of an appropriate marine biology restricted elective.
