Requirements for Minors
- At least 50% of the minor courses must be unduplicated, i.e., not used to simultaneously satisfy credit requirements of the major, core curriculum, or additional minors.
- At least 50% of the minor courses must be completed in residence at UNH.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required in the minor (programs may set higher requirements).
- A student may not declare a major and minor in the same program.
The minor in biology is intended for students who wish to enhance their biology background in order to complement their major, broadly explore curriculum across the department, and/or focus on a concentration or prepare for post-graduate degree or career. Prior to declaring their biology minor, students must develop a plan of study approved by the Biology Program Coordinator. No more than two courses from the student's major may be applied to the biology minor. Students must earn a grade of C or higher for a course to count toward the biology minor.
Upon completion of the minor in biology, students will be able to:
- Apply core biological concepts while using the scientific method to interrogate biological systems.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use and critical evaluation of scientific literature.
