The digital game and esport ecosystem is one of the fastest-growing industries worldwide, encompassing a diverse range of segments, including game development, esports operations, game publishing, digital marketing, and event management. With the industry's rapid expansion, career opportunities are abundant and varied. Every segment of the ecosystem, every organization within it, and every position requires skilled professionals with business acumen, industry-specific knowledge, and management expertise. The University of New Haven's Esport and Digital Game Management program is designed to prepare students for the dynamic world of digital gaming and esport with a curriculum that integrates business strategy, industry insights, and practical learning. The B.S. degree in Esport and Digital Game Management uniquely equips students with the skills needed to navigate and excel in the ever-evolving global gaming market.

Program Objectives

Our graduates will be:

a. Employed in firms/fields that contribute to the esport and digital gaming industries;

b. Contributing to the public dialogue regarding the esport and digital gaming industries;

c. Advancing their careers in the fields they choose.

Program Outcomes

  1. Fundamental business concepts and technical knowledge
    1. Students will demonstrate knowledge of fundamental business concepts in functional areas.
    2. Students will integrate knowledge from business functional areas and formulate solutions (in written form) that consider both the internal and the external environments of an organization.
  2. Analytical tools and critical thinking
    1. Students will apply appropriate analytic methods to find solutions for business problems.
    2. Students will employ evidence/information to derive a solution for business problems from possible alternatives.
  3. Ethical reasoning in a diverse, global society
    1. Students will explain how different types of diversity add value in a business environment.
    2. Students will apply ethical principles in business decision-making within a global marketplace impacting different sets of stakeholders.
  4. Effective communication and collaboration skills
    1. Students will prepare and deliver an effective oral presentation on a business topic.
    2. Students will demonstrate effective team skills.
  5. Major Specific Goal: Strategic Business Application and Portfolio Development in Digital Gaming
    1. Students will design a comprehensive business plan articulating strategic initiatives for industry management.
    2. Students will develop a web-based portfolio showcasing a resume, bio, professional links, projects, course descriptions, and reflections, demonstrating readiness for entry-level roles in digital gaming and esports.

Students earning a B.S. degree in Esport and Digital Game Management are required to complete 121 credits, including the university core curriculum (41 credits) and the college of business core (29 credits). Further clarification and additional requirements are outlined below.

Students completing a B.S. in Esport and Digital Game Management will complete the following courses as part of the 41-credit University Core Curriculum:

Core Competency 9 - Perspectives on Creative Arts
C9T1: ENGL 2250 - Narrative Structures in Games

From the PCoB Prescribed University Core Curriculum:


Majors that comply with the Pompea College of Business (CoB) core will complete the following courses as part of the 41-credit University Core Curriculum:

Core Competency 3 - Mathematical and Quantitative Literacy
