MATH 2228 - Elementary Statistics

Prerequisite: MATH 1104 or higher or placement into MATH 1110 or higher or consent of the department. Topics include: basic probability theory; random variables and their distributions; estimation and hypothesis testing; regression; and correlation. This course is not calculus-based, and places an emphasis on an applied approach to statistical theory with applications chosen from the biological sciences and other fields of study. Students will be introduced to and make use of a computer package for data analysis. 4 credits.
