CHME 3310 - Transport Operations I with Laboratory Prerequisites: EASC 2224 , MATH 2203 . Co-requisite: CHME 3312 . Application of transport phenomena principles to systems involving momentum, heat, and mass transfer with emphasis on equipment design. Use of microscopic and macroscopic balances, continuity and Navier-Stokes principles, and turbulent flow theories to develop mathematical models of physical systems with applications in fluid mechanics and thermal energy transport. Topics include design of piping systems, flow instruments, filters, heat exchangers, evaporators, and others of current interest. Laboratory work includes experiments in fluid flow and heat transfer, computer simulation, oral and written reports. 4 credits.
