MECH 4455 - Introduction to Robotics Prerequisite: MECH 4438 . Extensive review of the fundamentals of robotics and industrial automation. Step-by-step computational approach that helps students derive and compute the forward kinematics, inverse kinematics, and Jacobians for the most common robot designs. Progressive introduction to dynamics that prepares students with or without a dynamics background to compute the dynamics of the most common manipulators. Presentation of the most common motion planning and trajectory generation algorithms; comprehensive treatment of motion and force control that includes both basic and advanced methods. Programming using contemporary software, and laboratory projects. 3 credits.
