HIST 3361 - Modern and Contemporary Britain: 1815 - Present This course analyzes the political, economic, social, and cultural history of modern Britain from the defeat of Napoleon to the twenty-first century. The focus is on the transformations shaped by industrialization and imperialism within the context of the Victorian era, two world wars, the monarchy and the commonwealth, the creation of the welfare state, multi-racial society, Thatcherism, New Labor, and the European Union.
