HIST 1122 - The Meaning of Modern America This course focuses on two questions: What has it meant to be American in recent history, and what role has America played in global society? In attempting to answer these questions, this course will cover topics such as racial disharmony in the aftermath of the Civil War, the history of immigration to America, the widening of political partisanship throughout the 20thcentury, and global conflict as embodied by the Cold War and the U.S. War on Terror. 3 credits.
