MUSC 1112 - Music and Global Cultures Music serves entertainment or recreational purposes. Music is also a resource for group identification and serves social and political functions. In this course, students analyze the anatomy of music and explore the context of music in different regions of the world in order to gain an understanding of how the interactions between music and culture have developed. Students also engage with geographic and sociopolitical histories through exposure to a wide range of musics and media. 3 credits.
