HIST 1000 - Thinking Historically About... At its heart, history involves looking at the past to understand the present and maybe even the future. This course makes the relevance of the present in the past explicit by decentering content to emphasize historical methods and thinking. Students will practice qualitative and quantitative research skills that are transferable to any major or career as they work to understand the meanings and significance that people have projected onto events and ideas that are familiar to us in the present. This course is structured around historical methods and developing a historical perspective to allow your instructor to examine themes, approaches, and content that align with their interests and expertise so content will vary from section to section. 3 credits.
