HIST 3314 - Black History Through Film This course examines the varied representations of African-Americans in film. It focuses on how this history has both mirrored and challenged popular racial ideas in American society. Topics covered include the history of blackface minstrelsy, societal memories of the Civil War, the endurance of racial stereotypes in film, and the role that film has played in black social movements. 3 credits.
