HLTH 2401 - Phonetics


Prerequisites: HLTH 2400 ,Health Sciences major. This course covers the principles of phonetics and the study of distinctive feature systems that classify consonants and vowels used in the English language. It includes an introduction to basic proficiency with the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), including transcription of spoken language and the use of IPA with speech sound disorders. Introductory information and terminology related to phonological processes seen in typically developing speech will be discussed. 3 credits.
