HIST 1100 - Inventing our Modern World


In this course, students will investigate how the diverse societies of the modern world forged the global systems that define the contours of today's extraordinarily diverse, yet thoroughly interconnected international community. Students will develop an understanding and appreciation of the varied cultures that constitute our contemporary shared humanity. Examination of the historical roots of today's global challenges will provide students with powerful tools for better engaging their world today, and planning for our future. Amongst an array of methods for historical analysis, students will receive training in various methods of computer-based data analysis, visualizations, and professional presentation - transferrable to any profession. 3 credits.
