SLPA 6803 - Cognitive-Communication Disorders This course provides a study of acquired and progressive cognitive-communication disorders resulting from neurological disorders and diseases such as traumatic brain injury, dementia, and mild cognitive impairment. This course focuses on the nature of these conditions, assessment to create a differential diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. Students will be able to embed the understanding cognitive skills such as memory and executive functioning through evidence-based practice and discuss the importance of providing family/patient centered care. 3 credits.
