HIST 3312 - Modern U.S. History This course explores the major historical events that have shaped the United States in the 21st century. Issues and topics to be covered include: the presidency in modern America, September 11th and the War on Terror, the Great Recession, social unrest and protest movements, the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of fake news and misinformation on American democracy. The goal of this course is for students to understand the issues in recent history that have shaped their own lives and also to think critically about how such historical knowledge can be used to better prepare for the future. 3 credits.
