GRDE 2202 - Putting Design in Context

Prerequisites: GRDE 2201 GRDE 2213 . This course will define how graphic design shapes communication. Students will build on the core elements of visual awareness developed in Introduction to Communication Design. It will expand students' insight beyond initial design principles by developing assignments in context through: semantics-the search for the meaning of what is being said; syntactics-the discipline controlling visual grammar through the articulation of language; and pragmatics-how an audience responds to a message as a result of the design. Students will demonstrate their understanding of these principles both in theory and practice.  Laboratory fee. 3 credits.
