ARHS 3375 - Art Theory and Criticism Prerequisite: ARTS 3331 . This course will explore art theory and art criticism during the twentieth century to the present, concentrating on post-1945 approaches, with special interest in contemporary art practices of the last two decades. Assignments will include written and verbal critiques of art experienced in person at local art museums and galleries. Field trips and research will include guided tours of museums and galleries, lectures by artists and curators, and creative performances. Students will also analyze critical texts through group presentations and classroom debates. 3 credits.
