MLSC 3340 - Laboratory Operations, Regulation, and Compliance This course introduces the theory and evaluation of basic laboratory management principles in healthcare, including quality assessment (QA) and safety. The course will emphasize real world situations and applications to laboratory management including quality management (QM) and laboratory improvement initiatives, ethics, point-of-care, hiring, credentialing and personnel issues, laboratory regulations, proficiency testing, competency assessment and accreditation standards, quality control (QC), and laboratory information management (LIM). Professionalism, ethics, and continuing education will also be discussed as they relate to laboratory personnel. Students will be exposed to laboratory standard operating procedures, laboratory policies, and safety procedures. 3 credits.
