SLPA 6901 - Assessment and Intervention for Reading and Writing

Prerequisite: SLPA 6620. This course will cover the theoretical underpinnings of reading and writing development with an emphasis on applied knowledge regarding assessment and intervention in reading disorders. Topics will include diagnosis and screening of dyslexia and language-based reading disorders, tiered intervention models, word-reading and reading comprehension instruction and structured approaches to teaching writing. Students will engage in case-based models to apply their learning. 3 credits.
