MPMA 6600 - Research Methods in Marine Social Science


Prerequisite: MPMA 6604 . Co-requisite: MPMA 6614 . This course is focused on examining the research methods typically employed to inform policy and management decisions to advance marine and coastal ecosystem sustainability from a human dimensions perspective. Topics covered include methods of scientific inquiry in social sciences research, research design, conceptualization and measurement, ethics in research, and quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection including ethnographic observation, interviews, and surveys. Students are expected to produce a research project proposal as part of this course. 3 credits.
