NUTR 6634 - Nutritional Pharmacology

Prerequisite: NUTR 6620. This course will introduce students to the different classes of medicinal compounds that are in use today. The diseases/conditions they are used for, nutrient/drug interactions, the mechanism of action, and contraindications, potential nutraceutical pharmacological agents, and complimentary and integrative nutrition will be addressed. Nutritional supplements, herbal remedies, and traditional/homeopathic medicine will also be touched on. 3 credits.
