RUSS 6602 - Elementary Russian II Prerequisite: RUSS 6601 . This course builds upon the grammatical structures and vocabulary acquired in Elementary Russian I. It continues to employ a thoroughly communicative approach that develops the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The fundamentals of basic Russian grammar and vocabulary will be presented through increasingly more complex oral units based on themes of daily life. Cultural materials in various media and videos of conversations between native speakers will be modeled weekly, playing a central role in reinforcing linguistic skills. A web-based language laboratory facilitates listening and the recording of spoken exercises and dialogues. In addition, students will watch a cultural video series in Russian over the course of the semester and prepare short weekly journal assignments that engage new vocabulary and cultural content. A final oral project designed by the student will be due at the end of the semester. 3 credits.
